This was a long day's travel - first a fairly short flight to Sao Paolo (about an hour) then a wait at Sao Paolo for the three hour flight to Fortaleza ( this is the capital city of Ceara state on the north east coast of Brazil). And finally a 400 mile ride in a Land Rover on ever worsening roads to Jericoacoara - add the darkness and a heavy rainstorm and the driver's uncertainty of the route and you have the makings of an exhausted arrival.

It is hard to take good pics from the window of a 'plane. I do not know exactly where these are but somewhere between Sao Paolo and Fortaleza and I hope they give some idea of the land over which we were flying. |

| A pitstop on the way from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara - most welcome and necessary to fill up with petrol (gas) let the air out of the tyres - well, some of it at least, for the remainder of the drive over cobbles and sand, and most important to allow the passengers to empty and refill! | |
